If i unclipped my down lights at the transformer csn i clip this onto the left over cable ?
Love the durability testing!
Thanks guys! Very informative and useful details all well explained.
Has that got a seal on the bottom for mounting on junction boxes? Could be handy for retrofitting :)
What's the minimum lux when the PE cell activates? I like the idea of switchable wattage, if only it had a colour temp switch. Great idea to cover a wide range of applications.
Hi @TradieTrev Great question! The PE Cell activates between 30-60 Lux turning fitting ON, this is dependant on positioning and glare factors of installation. It also deactivates between 100-150 Lux switching fitting OFF, also dependant on the installation factors. :)
There's no audio in this one guys! I gather this a custom design service you offer?
*promosm*
If you need youtube service for monetization.I will help you..
lumen
85A inrush current each! That's one way to make the grid drip lol!
This isn't about Blind Snakes...
Having used voltex 10mm downlights with detached drivers in insulated panels; They are a total stuff around stabbing out foam to make them fit. This seems like a more elegant design, but Voltex offer a 7 year warranty compared to your 5 year.
The clip is way to fast too study or appreciate the individual products.
Thanks Ron, this is designed to give a quick sample of the main videos that you can view in the description
Nice organisation nerd
haha, we love it!
Great stuff guys! The warranty and quality of fixtures is what really sells it to the clients. Even my local shopping centre has been decked out with NOX fixtures and I'm yet to see any of them fail.
So nice the dip switches on output and why I like the product; Get a higher rated unit, dip it down and she should last a long time!
Infrared input seems like a hackers paradise IMHO. What's stopping the tech savy person to know your IR codes and direct them to your product, screwing up any commercial installation?
How about some electrical durability tests like 415v across one of your products? Even better yet, get a nice big HV cap bank lol!! I love the destructive tests they do in switchboard building to ensure it's explosion proof!
Their design is heaps roomy compared to the Brilliant & Atom design. Also forgot to mention the tricolours Josh, people love that shit!
Would you use heatshrink after ?
Hey Brad, depends on the location of installation but using heat shrink always looks better then open joints. Typically we cover ours with hot glue to prevent corrosion as many of our installations get installed on coastlines
Best advice ever!!
Wow
Are they Tri-colour?
Hey Shane, absolutely!
Hello, I'm glad to see your work, and I hope we can have further communication.Thank you
Love to see you fit off 15 in a row and see how many work without having to pull the back off and push the cable in again
Hey Stewart, we have quite a few sparky's we can send you their details that have connected thousands of Blind Snakes and love using the product. We also have lots of commercial sites using thousands across the one installation with very few failures. If your having problems making connections I'd suggest you checkout this video for "Do's and Dont's" and common problems (ruclips.net/video/OxYC_h9SsYE/видео.html). The majority of bad connection happen when people don't push the cable into the tray or use the wrong cable. PM us if you want those Sparkys names, cheers
Tim, you become old!
Nah, I became wiser!
Why does the box I just picked up say not to use them with 2.5mm cable unless I get instruction from my local representative?
Hey Andrew, the warning is on the box for anyone that hasn't watched the video or hasn't used them previously. We found that when someone hasn't done one of the aforementioned things they can fail to push the 2.5mm cable down far enough.
@@melec_aus ah OK thanks 👍
Why does the box I just picked up say not to use them with 2.5mm cable unless I get instruction from my local representative?
Hey Andrew, its a warning for anyone that has never connected blind snakes before. Your welcome to use the snake on 2.5mm cables found on this list www.melec.com.au/blind-snake/
Those stupid push in connectors are rubbish!! I'd love to see one of you EE's try to fit off that fitting under a loose soffit. As clearly stated in this video you expect it mounted to a wall which is not typically every installation case. Anything that moves with pressure terminals is only going to cause a bad joint. I'd love to know what's your perspective in regards to pressure terminals, fully well knowing that a soffit is NOT a brick wall!
Hey Trev, they are rubbish if not aligned correctly! That is why we spent extra on the guides to ensure they align well....
@@melec_aus I made this comment prior to having your device in my hot hands! Here's my factual response: She's a good looking fitting, I can see how having the led driver in the base could reduce the head size and also production costs. The proportions of the sensor and heads is quite aesthetically pleasing. Nailed the push connector, I normally hate those things. I'd still remove the screw on the choc block and manually push it on however so I can test. Why no cable retainer?; There's still plenty of room when you remove the inner shell?! Where's my earth terminal too as per as3000 5.4.3. I understand it's a double insulated light fitting, but this product wouldn't be helpful retrofitting when you got feeds, switchers and earths. You're not the only manufacturer skimming on this practice. No sparky would agree with your design, don't say electricians approve it. The sensor head is upside down for commissioning when mounted upon a soffit. This is utter crap for commissioning. It uses a 01c803 (mosfet?) with a lineout of only 46W? Manual said to include the fittings draw. Sensor IC is a 8 wire package EF-2S8 from "Energylux ES-P065". The electronics and the sensor lens always dies first, yet having a solid state switcher should be better yet you'll blow it upon with 3 position switches AUTO|OFF|ON being backfed. Looks cute and the push in connector works well, not impressed with the rest.
@@TradieTrev thanks for the reply! Earth terminal for looping is on it in the next batch which should help make things easier. 3 position switch was never our intention as not enough sparkies requested it when getting feedback. To save that, we opted to put a 'off-on-off-on' setup for manual override which confirms with a flash so people know the manual lock-on has occurred. This also avoids nuisance operations from power fluctuations. Happy to get feedback from all spark's and consistently improve, that is why we are getting the modification to the sensor competed as we speak! Tim
Nice Pikachu!
Good spotting!
Just had two come through the door from amazon to try, good bit of kit but too expensive (£13.15 for 2) compared to a wiska box and stuffing glands.
Thank you very much!
The older method still fits more wires ;)
The 1 way box does fit more cables Trev but looks terrible next to a nice flood light!
@@melec_aus You got me there, your floodies are attractive hahaha
What if you need to terminate more than 3 wires? That won't work where a traditional one would.
Hey Trev, next model is designed for loop in-loop out and sensor termination but this one was designed for end termination. You can also remove the terminal block tray with 2 screws and use it for soldered joints 👍
@@melec_aus Can't question using wagos; They're the bomb if you want to work fast!
It doesn't come come free.... it costs $9.99 and trust me, spend the $10, cause you'll need it!
Hey JuzzyQld, on site warranty does currently have a $9.95 admin fee but M-World is free to join. If you have had any failures, we are always hoping for feedback so we can improve our services and products. Please call us and ask for Tim or Wayne 1300 222 445
